On September 30th, the government of Portugal published the amends to the Law 23/2007 that regulated the entry, stay and permanence of foreigners in the country. Inside of this document, the officers describe the requirements of the highly expected new Digital Nomad Visa for Portugal. This novel permit is a residence visa for the exercise of professional activity provided remotely outside the national territory.

Digital nomads will be able to apply at their home 's consulate or at the SEF (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras).

What is the duration of the Digital Nomad Visa for Portugal?

The Digital Nomad Visa for Portugal will be given for one year, and then it can be renewed for up to 5 years.

Can I apply for the Digital Nomad Visa for Portugal as a company employee?

Yes, if you are a remote employee by a company you can apply for the Digital Nomad Visa for Portugal. All you need is the following documents: employment contract, declaration of employer proving the employment relationship.
