Details

The D7 Portuguese Visa is a residence permit for foreign nationals who depend on a source of income, including retired people, pensioners, and other people with a recognized stable income. It permits a non-EU citizen to enter Portugal in order to apply for a residence permit on the basis of the existence of sources of income whose value should be transferred to Portugal.

It must be requested from the Portuguese consular representation in the applicant's country of residence, and it has a four-month validity period. The candidate will be permitted to enter Portugal during this four-month window in order to submit the required residence permit application. Like in other cases, this residence permit will need to be renewed after one year, then after two years, and then after another two years. If the candidate has lived in Portugal for six years and is fluent in the language, he may apply for Portuguese nationality.
