Can I apply if I am not strictly in IT but say in online marketing?

Unfortunately not at the moment. This is the first version of the Digital Nomad program in the Czech Republic so the rules might change in the future. As of now though, the field is limited to IT. If you are in a different field, you can try applying for a standard "Business Visa" aka "Zivno Visa".

Can I apply if I am a resident of one of the mentioned countries but not a citizen?

That is unfortunately not possible at the moment. Only people holding a passport of one of the listed countries can apply.

Details

Czech Republic introduced a new Digital Nomad Program in July 2023.

It is limited by nationality (only citizens of these countries can apply: Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States) and by the field of business (only IT workers qualify).

There are generally two options:

1. People who are employed by a company that has at least 50 employees internationally and are allowed to continue working for the same company distantly from the Czech Republic.

2. Freelancers who want to freelance from the Czech Republic (and pay taxes here).

There are a few more conditions to meet (such as the income level, education/experience) and the process is a bit more complicated than a standard visa application so we recommend you to book a consultation with us first to go through the basics and see if you qualify.

If you do, we'll be happy to help you with the whole process and the price of the consultation will be deducted from the price of the Visa Assistance.
