What are eligibility requirements for the Working Holiday Programme?

5 Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must have a passport that is valid for at least three months after intended departure from Austria.
  • Applicant must be at least 18 and not more than 30 years old, both inclusive at the time of application.
  • Applicant must hold a return ticket or show sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket.
  • Applicant must have the proof of sufficient financial means for maintenance for the initial period of stay.
  • Applicant must have travel, health and accident insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR (approx. 50,000 CAD) for each medical expense, and repatriation) and validity in the entire Schengen area, including the following details: name of insured person, length of coverage, insurance sum.

  • “Austrian Visa D” application form for a stay of up to 12 months.
  • Biometric passport picture (according ICAO regulations).
  • Valid passport (that is valid for at least three months after intended departure from Austria).
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for your maintenance for the initial period of stay (original bank statements with banking history, etc.).
  • Flight ticket reservation.
  • Consular fee.
  • Travel Health Insurance document.
