A working holiday visa is a residence permit allowing you to undertake employment and holiday (and sometimes study) in Hungary, For many young people, holding a working holiday visa enables you to experience living in Hungary without undergoing the usual costly expenses of finding work sponsorship in advance or going on expensive university exchange programmes.


You need to:

  • have enough money to pay for a return ticket, and

  • be coming mainly on holiday, with work being a secondary intention.

What are eligibility requirements for the Working Holiday Visa?

10 Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must hold Taiwan passport valid for more than twelve (12) months upon arrival in Hungary
  • Applicant must have the primary intention to enjoy a holiday in Hungary, with employment or study being an incidental intention
  • Applicant must be aged between eighteen (18) and thirty-five (35) years, both inclusive, at the time of application
  • Applicant must not be accompanied by dependents
  • Applicant must have a ticket for departure from Hungary, or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket.
  • Applicant must have enough funds for maintenance during the period of initial stay in Hungary
  • Applicant must pay the visa fee
  • You must have comprehensive health insurance in Hungary
  • Applicant must be of good character
  • Applicant must have not availed the working holiday visa before

Which documents do I need to apply for the Working Holiday Visa?

7 Document Required

  • Copies of valid passport (like the bio page, past visas, etc)
  • Recent passport size photo
  • Copies of flight ticket (incl. return ticket, or proof of sufficient funds to purchase such ticket)
  • Copies of proof of sufficient means of subsistence, eg. bank statements
  • Copies of travel health insurance
  • Proof of accommodation in Hungary
  • Receipt of visa fee payment
