About

If you want to stay in Spain without an income-generating activity (job or occupation), you can apply for the Spanish Non-Lucrative Visa, as long as you have sufficient means of subsistence. You cannot work with this visa.


Foreign citizens who have arrived in Spain must apply for an identity document at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at the competent police station within one month of the date of entry into Spain.


Reminder: Spain will soon adopt an official Digital Nomad Visa.

  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay in Spain: around €3000 per month (around 3520 USD).
  • Do not carry any lucrative activity during your stay.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Spain Non-lucrative Visa?

11 Document Required

  • Medical Certificate: a statement signed by a doctor indicating that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’. This certificate cannot be older than 3 months from the date of application.
  • Proof of having international medical insurance with an insurance company authorised to operate in Spain.
  • Non-Australian Citizens will have to provide evidence of their legal residence in Australia (for example: valid Australian residence visa).
  • Authorisation form M790 C052 (proof of payment of the consular fee). Please check the current fess with the Consular Office.
  • National visa application form: the application forms must be filled in duplicate, signed and dated.
  • Passport or travel document recognised by Spain with a minimum validity of 12 months.
  • Form EX-01 must be filled out in print and signed. Only available in Spanish.​
  • 2 recent passport size photos. Features: White Background, 2x2in. Glued not stapled on the application form.
  • Statutory declaration explaining why you are requesting this visa, the purpose, the place and length of your stay in Spain and any other reasons you need to explain. This document must be presented in Spanish.
  • Proof of a source of regular income without having to engage in any business or professional activity in Spain, for you and your family, where applicable, for the requested period of residence and in the following amounts.
  • Police Criminal Record clearance of every applicant over the age of 18 (cannot be older than 3 months from the date of application).
