In order to encourage international engagement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has actively promoted the signing of working holiday agreements with other countries. This programme helps young people to broaden their international perspectives and increase their global competitiveness through cross-cultural experiences, as well as through development of risk assessment and management skills and cultivation of interpersonal skills and international friendships. The quota for Ireland Citizens is 400 persons per year.

What are eligibility requirements for the Working Holiday Scheme?

9 Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must be aged between 18 and 30 years, both ages inclusive, at the time of application.
Applicant must not be accompanied by people who depend on it.
Applicant must move to Taiwan with the primary touristic and cultural intention.
Applicant must not have previously benefited from this Working Holiday Program.
Applicant must possess an air ticket with return date or sufficient financial resources to purchase the aforementioned return ticket.
Applicant must have health insurance to cover medical and hospitalization costs during your stay in Taiwan.
Applicant must have an Irish passport valid for 1 year.
Applicant must have sufficient funds (€4,000) to cover initial stay period in Taiwan.
Applicant must hold Irish citizenship and reside in Ireland.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Working Holiday Scheme?

7 Document Required

Two 2-inch color passport photos.
Proof of overseas travel health insurance for the duration of stay.
A certificate of good conduct.
A medical report issued within the past three months.
Proof of a valid return ticket or sufficient sources to purchase one.
Proof of sufficient financial resources.
"Working Holiday" visa application form (to be completed on https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw), printed and signed.
