Retirees aged 50 years and older can apply for the LTR Visa if they have an annual pension or stable income. 


Note: Four groups of people will be eligible for LTR visas: highly skilled professionals, wealthy global citizens, wealthy pensioners, and professionals who work from Thailand. The same visas are available to LTR visa holders' spouses and dependents as well.

What are eligibility requirements for the LTR Thailand Visa for Wealthy Pensioners?

3 Eligibility Requirements

  • In case of personal income below USD 80,000/year but no less than USD 40,000/year, applicants must invest at least USD 250,000 in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment, or Thai property
  • Health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand or at least USD 100,000 deposit
  • Personal income of at least USD 80,000/year at the time of application: Please revise whether the origin of the income is accepted by the Thai government.

Which documents do I need to apply for the LTR Thailand Visa for Wealthy Pensioners?

10 Document Required

  • Copy of valid passport (first page and all pages with Thai visa stamps)
  • Photograph 3x4 cm
  • Health insurance policy covering entire course of stay in Thailand, with coverage for hospitalization treatment of no less than 50,000 USD
  • Copy of Thai Government Bond in applicant’s name
  • Shareholder list (not more than 3 months old)
  • Securities Business License from The Securities and Exchange Commission In case of investing in Venture Company
  • Copy of the sale and purchase agreement of the condominium unit made by the Applicant and the project owner/company
  • Copy of certificate of ownership of Apartment in applicant’s name
  • Evidence showing the incomes in current year e.g. pension
  • A letter of verification issued from the country of his or her nationality or residence stating that the applicant has no criminal record may be requested on a case-by-case basis.
