Barbados Immigration is now offering Special Entry Permits to foreigners and non-nationals who wish to visit the island for an indefinite period of time.

The following categories of persons are eligible to apply for a SEP:

  • Retired property owners
  • High net worth persons, employed or retired
  • High net worth persons are defined as those with over US$5 million in net assets.

Fees for retired persons:

• Special Entry Permit for retired persons over 60 years: US$5,000
• Special Entry Permit for retired persons under 60 years: US$3,500

Fees for employed persons over 60 years:

• Special Entry Permit: US$5,000; plus
• Indefinite work permit: US$15,000; or
• Annual work permit: US$1,500

Fees for employed persons under 60 years:

Option 1:

• Special Entry Permit: US$5,000; plus
• Indefinite work permit: US$20,000.

Option 2:

• Special Entry Permit: US$3,500; plus
• Annual work permit: US$1,500.

Fees for Non-Executive Directors:

• Special Entry Permit: US$5,000; plus US$500 annually.

Fees for Dependents:

• US$150 per dependent.

What are eligibility requirements for the Special Entry and Reside Permit?

7 Eligibility Requirements

  • All retired persons who own property in Barbados can qualify for a SEP.
  • Retired property owners who are over 60 years of age qualify for an indefinite SEP that will not expire.
  • Retired property owners who are under 60 years of age qualify for a SEP that is valid until they reach 60 years of age. At that time, the SEP must then be renewed as an indefinite Special Entry Permit that will not expire.
  • High net worth persons are defined as those with over US$5 million in net assets.
  • High net worth persons over 60 years of age qualify for an indefinite SEP that will not expire.
  • High net worth persons under 60 years of age qualify for a SEP that is valid until they reach 60 years of age. At that time, the SEP must then be renewed as an indefinite Special Entry Permit that will not expire.
  • High net worth persons are also eligible to purchase annual work permits and indefinite work permits which give them the right to work in Barbados.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Special Entry and Reside Permit?

8 Document Required

  • Extension of Stay form.
  • Applicant's Birth Certificate.
  • Police Certificate of Character (PCC) from any country in which the applicant has resided for a period of 6 months or more after the age of 16.
  • Enhanced disclosure form in lieu of PCC for British applicants.
  • Title Deeds – if applicable Land Tax document (if applicable).
  • Proof of financial resources – ability to support self and dependents e.g. bank statements, pension document Health insurance (insurance coverage must be valid in Barbados).
  • Proof of high net worth (if applicable).
  • Proof of relationship to dependents where applicable i.e. birth certificates/legal documents.
