Foreign students who wish to study and reside in Estonia for more than 6 months, need to apply a student visa (D Visa) at the nearest Estonian Embassy or Consul in the home country or country of residence

Work during studies:

International students in Estonia do not need an additional working permit to work while studying full time and they are allowed to work on the condition that it does not interfere with their studies. Students have to receive passing grades for a full load of courses and finish studies within the nominal time.

The processing time for study visa may take from 6-12 weeks from the application day.

You can bring your spouse and kids with you.

The general application process is:

  • You need a travel document valid for at least 12 months
  • You may require valid travel insurance covering the entire period of your studies in Estonia
  • You must to be accepted/enrolled in a course of an approved university/college in Estonia
  • You need sufficient funds to cover your studies or a scholarship which confirms the payment of the tuition fees

  • Copies of enrollment letter from educational institute in Estonia
  • A recent passport size photographs (size 35x45 mm)
  • Copies of travel health insurance
  • Copies of valid passport (including the bio page, past visas, etc)
  • Proof of financial means/scholarship to cover the studies
