About

French Tech Visa for Founders enables foreign startup founders to set up found their startup in France in one of a French Tech partner incubators. You may be granted a residence permit marked Talent Passport innovative project, valid for up to 4 years, renewable. You need to apply for your long-stay visa at the French Consulate (if you live outside of France) or at the Prefecture (if you already live in France), with the supporting documents.

Application Procedure

Step 1:

Be selected by one (or several) of the French Tech Visa partner incubators and accelerators, through their regular process of selection.

Step 2:

If your startup is selected by a partner incubator, your incubator will send you an official letter from the French Administration (Direccte) attesting to the innovative nature of your startup.

Step 3:

Apply for your long-stay visa and residence permit. The procedure depends on whether or not you already live in France (Refer to this link for details)

Cost

The long-stay visa authorizing you to enter France costs €99 (payable at the French Consulate prior to your arrival in France).

Once you are in France, you must pay a tax of 250 Euros to the French Immigration and Citizenship Office (Office français de l'immigration et de l'intégration – OFII). In addition to this tax, there is a stamp duty of 19 Euros. These payments are to be made when you pick up your residence permit at your Prefecture in France.

Total cost for the long-stay visa plus the residence permit: €368

What are eligibility requirements for the French Tech Visa for Founders?

  • You must have financial resources at least equal to the French annual minimum wage, €17,981.60
  • You must have an economically innovative startup project that you plan to develop in France
  • You must be selected by one of the French tech partnered incubators or accelerators
  • You must obtain the official letter from the incubators, approved by the French administration

Which documents do I need to apply for the French Tech Visa for Founders?

9 Document Required

  • A currently valid passport issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months after the visa expiry date
  • Long-stay visa marked ‘Passeport Talent – X° L313-20’ or VLS-TS marked ‘Passeport Talent’ or currently valid residence permit (as applicable at the time of the residence permit)
  • Proof of marital status and nationality: Passport (pages covering marital status, validity dates, entry stamps and visas), Short-form birth certificate showing parentage or copy of full birth certificate., Where applicable, spouse’s residence permit (or passport); copy marriage certificate, or short form birth certificates of children, showing parentage
  • Proof of address dated within the last three months (or, failing that, certificate of accommodation provided by a private individual or a hotel)
  • Three recent standardized passport photos
  • Proof of payment of stamp duty payable upon issue of the permit
  • Any document demonstrating that the business project to be developed in France is innovative, by virtue of its nature, purpose and duration.
  • Documents providing evidence that the project has been recognized by a public body.
  • Evidence of financial means corresponding to the statutory national minimum wage (SMIC), i.e. €17,763.20 approx.
