Foreigners planning to enter and reside in Indonesia for conducting scientific research or enrolled for higher education/ training need to apply for a VITAS (temporary stay visa) followed by a KITAS (temporary stay permit).

Which documents do I need to apply for the Limited Stay Permit For Scientific Research (KITAS)?

  • Application form, completed and signed.
  • Sponsor/guarantor letter.
  • Passport and a copy of passport photo/biodata page, visa, and recent arrival stamp.
  • The copy of VITAS at the time of applying the KITAS (Stay permit).
  • Domicile letter from local authority (if applicable).
  • A recommendation letter from the related ministry or other government agency (The Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Level Education, or LIPI (Indonesia Science Board)).
  • Bank statements/proof of sufficient funds to cover the stay.
