A working holiday visa is a residence permit allowing you to undertake employment and holiday (and sometimes study) in Japan, For many young people, holding a working holiday visa enables you to experience living in Japan without undergoing the usual costly expenses of finding work sponsorship in advance or going on expensive university exchange programmes.

What are eligibility requirements for the Japan Working Holiday Visa?

11 Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a national of Hungary
  • Applicant must be residing in Hungary at the time of initiating the process.
  • Applicant must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of applying for the visa
  • Applicant must not be accompanied by dependents, unless they have their own visas and are able to afford their stay during this period of time.
  • Applicant must have a valid passport.
  • Applicant must have the round trip ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket
  • Applicant must have sufficient funds for maintenance during the initial period of stay in Japan
  • Applicant must have the intention to leave the Japan at the end of stay
  • Applicant must have not previously obtained a working holiday visa of Japan
  • Applicant must be of good character
  • Applicant must have comprehensive health insurance in Japan

Which documents do I need to apply for the Japan Working Holiday Visa?

8 Document Required

  • Copies of valid passport (like the bio page, past visas, etc)
  • Visa application form, completed and signed
  • Copies of estimated travel plan during the stay in Japan
  • A note explaining the reasons why applicant wants to participate in the Working Holiday program (free format)
  • A recent passport photo (4.5cm x 4.5cm, face and white background)
  • Copies of proof of sufficient means of subsistence, eg. bank statements
  • Copies of travel health insurance
  • Character and health certificate, if applicable
