What are eligibility requirements for the Cultural Activity Visa?

4 Eligibility Requirements

  • Your intended activity in Japan has to be as one of the following: Academic activities, Artisitic activities or exclusive research and learning activities related to Japanese culture; No pay involved.
  • You have to certify that you can afford to live in Japan without pay or have a sponsor to cover your stay in Japan.
  • You must obtain a certificate of Eligibility through your sponsor.
  • Your visa application must be sponsored by one of those schools/professionals/experts who is willing to provide the lessons/classes to you in Japan based on their specific curriculum/schedule, so you must find the school/person who can sponsor your visa application in advance.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Cultural Activity Visa?

8 Document Required

  • Copy of valid passport.
  • Certificate of Eligibility obtained through the host organization.
  • 1 photograph.
  • Evidence regarding your activities in Japan like Leaflet, website, or related documents which certify the overview and curriculum of the host organization and explanation on why you want to learn Japanese culture.
  • Evidence regarding your academic/artistic background and achievement in the field of the related activities you intend to engage in Japan (as applicable).
  • Proof of funds showing that you can sustain the stay in Japan without pay, like bank statements, scholarships, etc.
  • In case of learning Japanese-oriented culture, arts, and crafts; the evidence of the professionals and experts (if applicable).
  • Additional documents may be required on case basis.
