A working holiday visa is a residence permit allowing you to undertake employment and holiday (and sometimes study) in Slovakia, For many young people, holding a working holiday visa enables you to experience living in Slovakia without undergoing the usual costly expenses of finding work sponsorship in advance or going on expensive university exchange programmes.


The Canadian citizens may also apply for Slovak National Visa which allows them not only to stay and travel across Slovakia for a period of up to one year but also to work on an occasional (temporary) basis.


You need to:

  • have enough money to pay for a return ticket, and

  • be coming mainly on holiday, with work being a secondary intention.



Family: You can not bring your children or family members.


Age: Available between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of application.


Duration: 12 Months.

  • You must be a Canadian citizen.
  • You must be 18-35 years old (inclusive).
  • You must have a valid Canadian passport.
  • You must hold a return ticket or sufficient financial resources to cover its costs.
  • You must have sufficient financial resources to cover expenses for duration of the stay.
  • You must have adequate health insurance in Slovakia.
  • You must be living in Canada when applying for Working Holiday Visa.

  • Visa application form, completed and signed.
  • Recent passport size photo.
  • Copies of valid passport (like the bio page, past visas, etc.).
  • Proof of sufficient means of subsistence, eg. bank statements.
  • Copies of travel health insurance.
  • Visa fee payment receipt.
