Foreigners are legally required to obtain a work visa (D visa) which provide you with full authorization to live and work in Spain. Approval of a work visa (D visa) is generally subject to the applicant’s level of work experience.The D visa is usually issued for three months, but may also be issued for up to twelve months. After arriving in Spain you have to apply for a residence permit within the 3 months which is valid for a year.


As Spain is a part of Schengen union, so, holders of type D visas are permitted to circulate freely in Schengen countries (other than the issued country) for a period of not more than 90 days per half-year and only if the visa is valid.


The processing time for a Work visa may take from 6-12 weeks from the application day.

You can bring your spouse and kids with you.

The general application process is :

  1. Get the employment letter or Work contract from the employer in Spain.

  2. Prepare your visa application and gather other required documents for it.

  3. Apply for a Work visa and prepare to move to Spain.

  • 2 recent passport size photographs.
  • Original and copies of the letter of employment stating your job title, length of time employed and annual salary.
  • Original and copies of medical certificate, with the signature and stamp of doctor translated into Spanish.
  • Copies of certificate of criminal record.
  • Copies of travel health insurance.
  • Copies of employee social security number.
  • Visa fee payment receipt.
