A working holiday visa is a residence permit allowing you to undertake employment and holiday (and sometimes study) in Switzerland, For many young people, holding a working holiday visa enables you to experience living in Switzerland without undergoing the usual costly expenses of finding work sponsorship in advance or going on expensive university exchange programmes.


You need to:

  • have enough money to pay for a return ticket, and

  • be coming mainly on holiday, with work being a secondary intention.


Family: You can not bring your children or family members.


Age: Available between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of application.


Duration: 12 months.


Note: You need to apply for a Youth Mobility Program work permit.

  • You must be a Canadian citizen.
  • You must be 18-35 years old (inclusive).
  • You must have a valid Canadian pasport.
  • You must hold a return ticket or sufficient financial resources to cover its costs.
  • You must have sufficient financial resources to cover expenses for duration of the stay.
  • You must have adequate health insurance in Switzerland.
  • You must have a permanent address in Canada when applying.
