A working holiday visa is a residence permit allowing you to undertake employment and holiday (and sometimes study) in Thailand, For many young people, holding a working holiday visa enables you to experience living in Thailand without undergoing the usual costly expenses of finding work sponsorship in advance or going on expensive university exchange programmes.


You need to:

  • have enough money to pay for a return ticket, and

  • be coming mainly on holiday, with work being a secondary intention.

What are eligibility requirements for the Thailand Working Holiday Visa?

7 Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be New Zealand national currently residing in New Zealand
  • Applicant must be18 – 30 years old
  • Applicant must have completed tertiary education with at least 3 years full – time study
  • Applicant must have New Zealand passport with at least 12 months validity
  • Applicant must have a return air ticket or sufficient funds to purchase the ticket
  • Applicant must possess at least NZ$ 7,000 for living expenses while in Thailand
  • Applicant must be in good health and have medical and comprehensive health insurance for duration of stay in Thailand

Which documents do I need to apply for the Thailand Working Holiday Visa?

7 Document Required

  • Visa application form, completed and signed
  • Copies of valid passport (like the bio page, past visas, etc)
  • Copies of bank statement or evidence of sufficient funds (at least AUD 5,000)
  • Original and copies of chest X – ray and medical certificate no more than 3 months old
  • 4 recent passport sized photos
  • Copies of certificate or transcript of tertiary education
  • Copies of valid travel health insurance
