Smart Visa is a new type of visa specially designed to attract highly skilled workers, investors, executives and startups who want to work or invest in the following target sector of Thailand:


One-year visa application: Foreign nationals who have completed an incubation or acceleration program or other similar program in the target industry, have received public sector partnership funding, or have been approved by the relevant government agency.


Benefits: 

  1. Visa up to 1 year, extended up to 2 years if requirements are met (Applicant must be a 25% shareholder or director of a company accredited by the relevant government in the sector concerned. Innovation Institutions (Public Institutions ) and public relations advertising of digital economy institutions such as institutions).
  2. Companies that have been approved by the competent authorities do not need a work permit. If your place of business changes, you must be notified separately in accordance with applicable requirements.
  3. 90-day reporting to immigration period in which you can file with the Immigration Service at the One-Stop Service Center by one year.
  4. No re-entry permit required.
  5. You can bring your partner and children with you. Spouse can work without a permit.
  6. Expedited service at Thailand International Airport (if applicable).

What are eligibility requirements for the Smart S - Accelerator/Incubator Program?

5 Eligibility Requirements

  • Attending an incubation or accelerator program or any other similar program which is in the targeted industries and certified by relevant government agencies such as the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) and Digital Economy Promotion Agency.
  • In case of not participating in an incubator or a similar program, the applicant must either receive joint venture funding with the public sector or endorsed by relevant government agencies such as the Digital Economy Promotion Agency.
  • Having a deposit of no less than 600,000 Baht or equivalent in a bank account in Thailand or in the country of his/her nationality or residence, which has been held for at least 3 months.
  • In the case of being accompanied by spouses and children, an additional amount of deposit of no less than 180,000 Baht per person or equivalent is required in a bank account in Thailand or in the country of his/her nationality or residence, which has been held for at least 3 months.
  • Having health insurance covering the entire period of stay in Thailand for the applicant as well as spouse and children.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Smart S - Accelerator/Incubator Program?

9 Document Required

  • Completed application form of qualification endorsement for smart visa “S”.
  • Copy of valid passport (first page and all pages with Thai visa stamps).
  • Financial evidence showing a deposit of no less than 600,000 Baht or equivalent in a bank account in Thailand oroverseas which has been held for at least 3 months. (*In the case of being accompanied by spouses and children, an additional amount of deposit of no less than 180,000 Baht per person or equivalent is required in a bank account in Thailand or in the country of his/her nationality or residence, which has been held for at least 3 months).
  • Medical certificate issued from the country of which the applicant is a national or a permanent resident or where the application is submitted, showing no prohibited diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535 (not more than 3 months old).
  • Health insurance policy covering entire course of stay in Thailand, with coverage for hospitalization treatment of no less than 500,000 Baht (*Submission of this document can be done separately at a later date before a notification letter is issued).
  • Pitch deck and business plan required.
  • Shareholder list (not more than 3 months old) or/and transfer slip.
  • Evidence of the incubation or accelerator program acceptance.
  • A letter of verification issued from the country of his or her nationality or residence stating that the applicant has no criminal record, certificate of incorporation, memorandum of association in Thailand, may be requested on a case-by-case basis.
