If you wish work and reside temporarily in Australia for more than 6 months, you can apply for a Temporary work visa (Government Agreement Stream). This visa stream allows you to work in Australia under the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government and a government of another country.

  • Your stay must have the support of both signatories of the bilateral agreement you are in Australia to work under.
  • You must be able to support yourself and any dependents.
  • You should be of good conduct.
  • You should be in good health.
  • You must have a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia.
  • You need valid travel insurance covering the entire period of stay.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Temporary Work (International Relations) visa?

6 Document Required

  • Visa application form, completed and signed.
  • Evidence that you meet the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government or a state and territory government and a foreign signatory.
  • Identity documents like birth certificate, marriage certificate, common law certificate (as applicable).
  • An overseas police certificate; from every country, including your home country, where you spent a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years since you turned 16 years old.
  • Copies of travel health insurance.
  • Proof of sufficient means of subsistence.
