  • You must have a university title related to your job position, and if you do not, you must have at least three years of experience in the same field. 
  • Your client or company must show that they have had activity for at least one year. 
  • You need to prove economic means to maintain yourself in Spain. The minimum amount requested is at least 2,130 Euros per month for the main applicant (200% of the minimum salary in Spain). You must present payment records or invoices.
  • If you apply with a family member, you must show an extra 750 Euros per month, and 250 Euros for each extra family member. In some cases, you might be able to show savings to prove solvency. 
  • Demonstrate your Social Security Number of your home country or your company paying taxes in Spain.
  • Show criminal record statements from the countries where you resided in the past five years.



Do I need to acquire a social security number in Spain for the Digital Nomad Visa?


The Spanish Administration wants to verify that the visa applicants are fulfilling social security obligations. You have two options: obtain a certificate from your home country, or go to Spain and pay social security there. 


If you are a freelancer, you can submit a declaration stating that you will be registering as self-employed in Spain. The other case is if you are an employee, your company should register as a payer of Social Security fees in Spain. 


Currently, it can be an issue, as certificates of Social Security coverage are released for inter-company transfers for companies with an office in the home country and in Spain.
