Cost of Living


Foreign nationals who intend to work as self employed in a profession or science in the Republic of Cyprus can apply for Immigration Permit Category D-visa, provided that they meet the following conditions:

  • Applicant must have academic or professional qualifications, for which there is demand in Cyprus

  • Applicant must be in possession of adequate funds


The fees for the granting of an Immigration Permit amount to €500 and are paid against a receipt upon submission of the application.

Eligibility Requirements

6 Eligibility Requirements for Immigration Permit Category D - Profession

  • You must have capital of adequate funds.
  • Applicant must deposit a minimum capital of €30.000 into an account, which will be pledged for a period of at least three years.
  • Applicant must prove that he/she has at his/her disposal a secure annual income of at least €30.000.
  • Applicant should submit, together with the application, title deeds or a sale contract in his/her name and/or his/her spouse, which has been officially filed at the Department of Lands and Surveys, of a real estate, of total market value of at least €300.000 (V.A.T. is not included therein) and official payment receipts of at least €200.000 (excluding V.A.T.).
  • Applicant must have Health Insurance Policy for the applicant and dependants.
  • Applicant must not have criminal record.

Document Requirements

9 Document Required for Immigration Permit Category D - Profession

  • Copy of valid passport of the applicant and dependents.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Original Letter from a financial institution in Cyprus (Bank, Coop) of a deposit of €30.000, pledged for three years.
  • Title of ownership or contract of sale of a built property in Cyprus of a minimum market value of €300.000 (original or true copy). If the title of ownership has not been obtained yet, the applicant must submit the contract of sale duly stamped by the Stamps Commissioner and the Department of Lands & Surveys and proof of payment for at least €200.000
  • The amounts paid for the property must be proven to have been transferred to Cyprus from abroad.
  • Official Statements by the applicant and his/her spouse that they do not intent to undertake any sort of employment in Cyprus.
  • Health Insurance Policy for the applicant and his/her dependants.
  • Marriage Certificate duly certified (official and certified translation).
  • Children’s Birth Certificates duly certified (official and certified translation).
