If you have completed higher education or have completed vocational training, and have an employer in Norway, then you can apply for a residence permit as a skilled worker.

Application process:

  1. Gather the documents as applicable for this purpose of residence.
  2. Choose your application form on the portal.
  3. Register and fill the form with the required information and choose the correct embassy that will receive your application (depending on your home country).
  4. Book your appointment online and visit one of the application centers in your home country, as guided by the portal.
  5. Submit your application with the documents.

What are eligibility requirements for the Skilled worker with an Employer permit?

7 Eligibility Requirements

  • You must have one of the following types of education/qualifications: a completed vocational training programme of at least three years at the upper secondary school level or; completed education or degree from a university/ university college or;
  • special qualifications that you have obtained through long work experience, if relevant in combination with courses, etc.
  • You must have received a concrete 'full time' job offer from one specific employer in Norway, which meets the qualifications for a skilled worker.
  • If you are going to work in an occupation for which recognition or authorization is required, you must have such recognition or authorization.
  • If you are to work through a staffing agency, you must present a list of the assignments that the employer has planned for you; The staffing agency must be registered in the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority’s register.
  • You must know your rights and obligation in norway.
  • You must pay the application fee.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Skilled worker with an Employer permit?

12 Document Required

  • Passport and copy of all used pages in passport.
  • Signed cover letter from the Application portal (or application form).
  • Two new/recent passport size photos with white background.
  • Documentation which shows that you have somewhere to live in Norway.
  • The UDI's Offer of employment form, completed.
  • Document showing the pay you have been offered meets the requirements.
  • Documentation of your education and/or documentation of your work experience, CV.
  • UDI's checklist, filled and signed.
  • In case of applying to a different country other than your home country: submit a document that you have held a residence permit for the last six months in this country.
  • In case of applying at Norway: submit document which shows that you are in Norway legally.
  • If you are going to work for multiple employers: submit the detailed documentation/explanation.
  • In case your employer or another person in Norway applies/follows up at UDI, in Norway on your behalf: submit the power of attorney form.
