If you have a residence permit as a student at university college or university, student at a vocational school, or student at upper secondary school: Documentation which shows that you have completed your degree/education in Norway, or that you have taken all exams and/or handed in all assignments which are necessary to complete your degree/education in Norway.

If you have a residence permit for additional education in order for your education to be recognized in Norway: Documentation which shows that your education has been recognized in Norway, or is about to be recognized.

If you want a representative to follow up your application in UDI on your behalf: Power of attorney form.

Applicant must be a job seeker and look for employment as a skilled worker in Norway. The work cannot be as a religious leader/teacher or an ethnic cook.

Applicant must fulfill one of the following requirements.

Applicant must have a residence permit as a student at university college or university, student at a vocational school or student at upper secondary school, and apply for a residence permit as a job seeker before your permit expires. You must have completed your degree/education in Norway, or

Applicant must have a residence permit for additional education in order for your education to be recognised in Norway, and apply for a residence permit as a job seeker before your permit expires. Your education must have been recognized, or be about to be recognized, or

Applicant must have a residence permit as a researcher with own funds and apply before this permit expires, or

Applicant must have a residence permit as a skilled worker with an employer in Norway for being a researcher at a university, university college, or research institute. You must apply before this permit expires.

Applicant must have enough money to live on during the period you intend to stay in Norway. You must have at least NOK 20 248 per month, i.e. NOK 242 966 per year. This must be your own money, and must normally be in a Norwegian bank account. If you have a job offer in Norway while you are searching for a relevant skilled job, the income from this job can be included in this sum.

Applicant must have one of the following types of education/qualifications.

A completed vocational training programme of at least three years at upper secondary school level, for example as a carpenter or health worker. There must be a corresponding vocational training programme in Norway, or

A completed education or degree from a university/ university college, for example a bachelor's degree as an engineer or nurse, or

A special qualifications that applicant have obtained through long work experience, if relevant in combination with courses etc. A permit is only granted in such cases in exceptional circumstances. Your qualifications must be equivalent to those of someone who has completed vocational training.

CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) if the applicant is over 18 years old.

FRC (family registration certificate) if the applicant is over 18 years old, or CRC (Child registration certificate) if the applicant is under 18 years old.

Completely filled in family forms for parents and parents-in-law's- and own family.

A letter of full-time admission from an approved educational institution, stating your name, which studies you have admission to, at what level the studies are and how long the program lasts.

Certificate of Matriculation (attested by the relevant local Education Board).

Higher Secondary School Certificate (attested by the relevant local Education Board).

University or college certificate/transcripts/degrees.

Documentation that you have sufficient funds for your living expenses.

Documentation that you are able to pay the tuition fees (if you are required to pay tuition fees).

Applicant must have been admitted to a university college or university.

Applicant must have enough money to live on, at least NOK 116369 per year. This money may consist of student loans, grants, own funds that you have in a Norwegian bank account or the deposit account of the educational institution, or a combination of the above. If you have already been offered a part-time job in Norway, the income from this work may be included.

If applicant have to pay tuition fees, applicant must also have money to cover this.

Applicant must have someplace to live in Norway.

The circumstances in the applicant's home country must indicate that it is likely that the applicant can return home when he/she has completed studies.

a detailed description of the business, including an assessment of the market and the sales potential for your product or service and your role in the business.

Document specifying the name and location of the business.

Any necessary permit from a public body, if applicable, or a prior commitment of such a permit.

If the business is newly established: Provide budget for the business.

If the business is established: Provide accounts, or your tax return if the enterprise is exempted from submit accounts.

If you submit your application in a country other than your home country: Provide documentation that you have held a residence permit for the last six months in this country.

 If you submit your application in Norway: Provide evidence that you are legally present in Norway.

If you have already entered into contracts with clients: Provide contracts or letters of intent.

If you are to work in a profession for which recognition or authorization is required: Provide documentation that you have been recognized or authorized by the relevant recognition authority for your profession (as applicable).

If you are also going to work as an employee: Provide UDI's Offer of Employment Form, filling the details of this employment and the duration.

If you want a representative to follow up your application in UDI on your behalf: Provide Power of Attorney form.

If you want to start your work while your permit application is being processed, provide a letter of request mentioning this.

You must have plans to engage in long-term business activities in Norway.

The business concerned must normally be your own sole proprietorship and it cannot be a limited company (working anywhere else is not allowed).

The work you will be doing in the business must require your qualifications as a skilled worker.

Your business must have the business income of at least NOK 242,966 per year pre-tax. 

If the type of business you will be running requires permits from public authorities, you must hold such a permit or a confirmation from the authority that you will be granted such a permit. 

You must have education/ qualification according to nature of the job offered, a completed vocational training programme of at least three years at upper secondary school level, or completed education or degree from a university/ university college or special qualifications that you have obtained through long work experience, if relevant in combination with courses, etc.

Documentation of work experience containing information on the period you worked at the employer along with your CV.

Documentation from the restaurant you are going to work at: license to serve food, documentation on financial profitability, menu and a short description of the concept of the restaurant.

For applicants with work experience from China: Provide a craft certificate from Labor Bureau or Commercial Bureau in the provincial capital or Beijing, Shanghai or Tianjin.

For applicants with work experience from Hong Kong: Provide documentation proving that you are either “Executive Chef” or “Sous Chef”.

For applicants with experience from Thailand: Provide a valid certificate from an official Skill Development Center or Skill Development Institute or another institution which the Department of Labor in Thailand has given approval for this purpose. 

For applicants who have had a residence permit as an ethnic cook in the last 12 months: Provide all your payslips from the period when you worked as an ethnic cook.

If you submit your application in a country other than your home country: Provide documentation of a residence permit for the last six months in this country.

If you would like your employer or another person to apply/follow up at UDI on your behalf: Provide Power of Attorney form.

If the offer of employment is not continuous and/or your position is not full time (less than 80%), then provide a document explaining this situation.

If you are going to work for more than one employer then provide justified documentation explaining this purpose.

If you want to start work while your permit application is being processed, provide a letter of request mentioning this.

You must have at least ten years' relevant education and/or work experience. You must have worked at a high-standard hotel/restaurant for at least half of the work experience period.

If you are from China, you must have a certificate from the authorities stating that you are a 'level 1' cook or a 'level 2' cook.

If you are from Thailand, you must have a certificate from the authorities stating that you are a 'level 2' cook.

You must be employed at an ethnic restaurant (In some cases, the UDI can accept that the restaurant serves food from several countries).

The job you are offered must require qualifications as an ethnic cook. You must have the qualifications that the job requires.

You must have received a concrete offer of full-time employment from one specific employer in Norway, specifying the name of the restaurant you are going to work at (Working at several restaurants, even if they are from the same owner is not allowed).

The pay and working conditions must not be lesser than stipulated in Riksavtalen for hotell og restaurant (national collective agreement for hotel and restaurant workers).

You can also be granted a permit to work for a catering company that meets the requirements for being regarded as an ethnic restaurant.

The contract between you and the Norwegian client.

The documentation that you are a self-employed contractor with a business established abroad.

Provide an explanation in case you are not going to stay or work in Norway during the whole period you have applied residence permit for.

If you are to work in a profession for which recognition or authorisation is required: Provide documentation that you have been recognised or authorized by the relevant recognition authority for your profession (as applicable).

You must be a self-employed person with an established business abroad and have entered into a contract to carry out an assignment for a business in Norway.

The business in Norway must have a registered business address here.

The offer of an assignment must be for one specific enterprise in Norway.

Your remuneration must be of normal Norway standards.

Your qualifications as a skilled worker must be relevant to your ability to complete the assignment.

If you are going to carry out an assignment in an occupation for which recognition or authorization is required, you must obtain such approval or authorization.

You must have education/ qualification according to nature of the job offered: a completed vocational training programme of at least three years at upper secondary school level, or completed education or degree from a university/ university college or special qualifications that you have obtained through long work experience, if relevant in combination with courses, etc.

A statement from the National Sports Federation of your sport or Norsk Jockey Club.

You must either be an athlete who is going to participate in top-level sports or a coach in top-level sports.

You must have received confirmation from the relevant member association of the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports that you have the qualifications required, and at what level you are going to participate.

You must have received a concrete job offer from one specific employer in Norway.

The sport concerned must be a top-level sport.

The pay and working conditions must not be poorer than is normal in Norway (min of  NOK 242,966 per year,pre-tax).

Applicant must be a national of Canada and must be residing in Canada at the time of application

Applicant must intend to holiday in Norway

Applicant must be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application.

Applicant must have enough funds for maintenance during the period of initial stay in Norway

Applicant must have health insurance for the duration of stay in Norway.

Applicant must have a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket 

Applicant must not be accompanied by dependents

Applicant must Intend to leave Norway at the end of work holiday stay.

The UDI's Contract for cultural exchange between au pair and host family, signed by yourself and your host family.

Course certificate for completed e-learning course for host families in au pair cases.

Documentation of the nationality of the host family (for example copies of their passports).

If the host family is a single-parent family, documentation of the single parent's percentage responsibility for the child.

If the host family already has an au pair, a letter from the host family where they confirm when the former au pair is moving out.

If applicant is applying from Norway, or wish to wait in Norway while your application is being processed, because you qualify as a skilled worker, documentation of your education and/or documentation of your work experience.

If applicant wishes to submit application in a country other than your home country, documentation that you have held a residence permit for the last six months in this country.

You must have received a concrete 'full time' job offer from one specific employer in Norway, which meets the qualifications for a skilled worker.

If you are going to work in an occupation for which recognition or authorization is required, you must have such recognition or authorization.

If you are to work through a staffing agency, you must present a list of the assignments that the employer has planned for you; The staffing agency must be registered in the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority’s register.
