If the foreigner is a scientist and the purpose of his stay in Poland is to conduct scientific research or development work pursuant to an agreement on admitting the foreigner to a research institution in order to conduct a research project, then the foreigner may apply for a temporary residence permit for the purpose of conducting scientific research. 4 Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must be a scientist by profession
  • The applicant should have a professional title corresponding to the Polish Master's degree or equivalent, enabling access at least to postgraduate studies
  • The applicant must have an employment contract explaining the purpose of implementing research project concluded with scientific unit
  • The applicant should also meet conditions concerning health insurance and sufficient financial measures to cover the stay

Which documents do I need to apply for the Resident Permit for Scientific Research?

6 Document Required

  • An agreement concluded with a research institution with its seat in Poland concerning admission to the research institution in order to carry out a research project; in form of an employment contract or a civil law agreement
  • A written statement of the research institution confirming that the institution commits itself to cover the costs of the scientist's stay in Poland and the costs of execution of a decision obliging the foreigner to return (in case of such situation)
  • A valid health insurance
  • Sufficient financial means to cover living costs in Poland
  • Application forms filled and signed
  • Current passport size picture(s)
